SCF and Deja Vu

The recent media and web comments about the almost cult like belief in the leader of SCF reminds me of an investigation I performed a few years ago in the same region.

That case involved a fine upstanding pillar of the community (but who I will refer to as a conman) who had taken “Ma and Pa” investors to the cleaners to the tune of about $350,000 whilst sending them monthly updates and telling them their money was well invested.

What got me as I spent days door knocking on the investors doors trying to get them to give statements was the number of people who just would not listen to reason and who called me all sorts of names, even though I knew their money was long gone.

Even when the conman was sentenced to jail, some investors still blamed the people who instructed me to perform the investigation for the downfall, of course at the suggestion of the conman.

One thing is certain “the truth will come out”.
